NAIROBI – ITALY (Rome) + PORTUGAL (Fatima) + FRANCE (Lourdes)

 ITINERARY
DAY 01: PERSONAL DEVOTION DAY – NAIROBI – ISTANBUL – ROME

The group meet at the JKIA at 11pm for check-in and immigration procedures (at least 3-hours before departure). Departure to Istanbul followed by Rome.

DAY 02: ROME – TRE FONTANE – PANTHEON – TREVI FOUNTAIN – COLOSSEO

After breakfast, visit Tre Fontane: where Paul was beheaded by order of Emperor Nero . Legend accounts for the three springs (fontane) with the assertion that, when severed from Paul's body, his head bounced and struck the earth in three different places, from which fountains sprang up. Continue to visit Pantheon which was the centre of idol worshipping, Trevi Fountain and Colosseo, where early Christians faced persecution.

DAY 03: ROME – PAPAL AUDIENCE -TOMBS OF THE POPES

After early breakfast at 06:00am we will be transfer to Saint Peter’s square for the Papal Audience (Subject to the health or travel arrangements of the Holy Father). The Holy Father holds a General Audience mostly on Wednesday mornings in Vatican City at 10:00 a.m.  The audience is held in either St. Peter’s Square or the Paul VI audience. The audience is a chance to pray with the Holy Father and receive his blessing, which is imparted to all present and to their families and friends. Continue to see the Tomb of the Popes which is referred to as The papal tombs. It is the final resting places of the Popes , most which dated from the fifth to sixteenth
centuries. The majority of these tombs were destroyed during the sixteenth through seventeenth century demolition of old St. Peter's Basilica , except for one which was destroyed during the Saracen Sack of the church in 846. The remainder were transferred in part to new St. Peter's Basilica , which stands on the site of the original basilica, and a handful of other churches in Rome .

DAY 04: ROME – PADUA

After early breakfast, we board our bus to visit Padua where we can know more of St. Anthony. St Anthony, born in Lisbon in 1195, came to Italy at the age of 26, and after meeting St Francis during the Feast of Pentecost in 1221, was inspired to become a great Franciscan preacher, missionary and teacher. After his death at the age of 36 near to Padua, his body was later buried in the great basilica constructed by the townspeople of Padua. Our guide will give an explanation of the Basilica. Afterwards we drive a short distance out of Padua to Camposampiero where St Anthony spent time in a Franciscan Hermitage, and near to where, in the woods, he had a small
cell built among the branches of a walnut tree, where he would spend days in prayer and meditation, and where an apparition of St Anthony in ecstasy embracing the infant Jesus took place. We drive back to Rome for overnight.

DAY 06: ROME – CATACOMB – BASILICA OF ST. PAUL

After Breakfast we visit the Catacomb, the underground burial places of the most famous Christian s in the beginning of the 2nd century AD. We continue to the Basilica of St. Paul to see where he was buried. We will now have the opportunity for our religious shopping at St. Peter’s square.

DAY 07: ROME – LISBON – FATIMA

After early breakfast we will be transfer to Rome Airport for our flight to Lisbon. Upon our arrival in Lisbon we will be transfer by Bus to Fatima.

DAY 08: FATIMA

After breakfast, we will join the English Mass. In the afternoon we will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, starting at the Pristine Basilica, with the tombs of Jacinta and Francisco, beautified in 2000, and Sr. Lucia. Continue to the Capelinha, where Our Lady appeared to the shepherd children. Light a candle near the shrine, walk the lovely grounds or shop for religious articles nearby. Discover the hamlet of Aljustrel, the shepherd children's home. Continue to Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared after the children's release from prison. Visit the church where they were baptized and the local cemetery. Take some time for private devotions before a
video presentation on the history of Fatima. After dinner we can once again experience the Rosary Candlelight Procession 21:00pm (if available).

DAY 09: FATIMA –- LISBON – LOURDES

After breakfast we depart from Fatima to Lisbon for our flight to Lourdes via Toulouse.

DAY 10: LOURDES

Today we wake up early at 05:00am for the Ritual Bath and have a late Breakfast at 10:00am. We will have a late breakfast we depart at 05:00am. We will start at 14:00PM our walking tour tracing the life of St. Bernadette, which includes visits to the Boly Mills where Bernadette was born; the Locale Mill, residence of her parents; the "Cachot," formerly used as a jail, where she lived at the time of the Apparitions; the Chapel where she received her First Holy Communion; and the Parish church containing the Font, where she was baptized. Later in the day view a video presentation relating to the story of Lourdes. Free time for personal devotions including the Eucharistic Devotion and Procession. Tonight we are invited to participate in Rosary Candlelight at Procession (if available) at 21:00pm.

DAY 11: LOURDES

After breakfast will is your free day for personal devotion.

DAY 12: TOULOUSE – ISTANBUL – NBO

After early breakfast will be transfer to Toulouse Airport for our departure to Istanbul and then connect to our Nairobi flight.
